Common questions
How does CatchAFace face search work?
CatchAFace runs facial recognition search on the public web. Upload one photo and we compare it against publicly available images from social platforms, news, and other open sources, then return ranked similarity matches with sources you can review. We don't crawl private accounts.
What happens to the photo I upload?
We use it to run the search and then delete it. We never add it to a public index, store it long-term, or sell it.
Is this legal to use?
CatchAFace searches publicly available information. You are responsible for using results lawfully and for having permission to search the photo you upload. Face search is currently offered only in the United States and is not available in Illinois, Texas, Washington, Oregon, or Colorado, or outside the United States. Informational pages of the site may still be browsed from other locations.
Can I request removal of my information?
CatchAFace is a search engine, not a browsable people database. You can request CatchAFace face suppression so we stop passing your face through our results. That does not remove photos from FaceCheck, Google, or the open web — use our Opt-Out Guides for those official steps.
